The Biology of Social Touch: Hormones and the Brain

Denna studie är avslutad och tar tyvärr inte emot flera anmälningar!
We are looking for heterosexual couples whose method of contraception is not the so-called combination pill, as its contents can interfere with the variables we would like to study. Other forms of contaception such as “minipills”, spiral, and non-hormonal prophylactis are fine.

This experiment will measure brain responses when females are being touched by their romantic male partner, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). During the brain scanning, the leg of female participants will be stroked, sometimes by a male experimenter and sometimes by their romantic partner. Blood samples will be taken by a nurse (left arm) during the experiment to measure hormone levels.

Volunteers should be female between 18-40 years old, and have been in a romantic relationship with their male partner at least 1 year. The partner will accompany the female participant to the whole experiment, and will participate by stroking the female participant’s skin according to instructions.

The experiment will be conducted in Swedish, but can also be conducted
in English for non-Swedish-speaking participants.

The experiment will take place at Kliniksgatan 13B and lasts about 2 hours. Participants and their partner will be compensated at 200 SEK/hour each.
